The New Year Starts on January 3rd

Well, Ok, at least that's when it starts for me. My birthday is January 2nd...it may as well be another holiday in our house. My husband spoils me and I'm not shy about letting everyone know it. You should see the look a wife will shoot her husband when I tell her how I spend my birthday and then the husband shoots my husband a look like, "Seriously, dude, what the Hell!?!"
Here's the thing. I don't want anything for my birthday. I mean, in terms of gifts. Let's face it...we just had Christmas. I don't need anymore stuff. You know what I want for my birthday...PEACE and QUIET. Yep, that's it. A day of sheer and utter relaxation where I can just hang out and do nothing. And every year my husband delivers!

My birthday usually goes like this:
Wake up to breakfast in bed.
I love my husband's french toast.
He'll make me french toast, coffee, eggs fresh fruit, mimosa...the works.
I roll out of bed and brush my teeth.
Then I move to the couch where I proceed to sit all day catching up on television shows on my iPad with my earbuds in.
Last year it was Downton Abbey, this year I will likely watch TOWIE all day...my new guilty pleasure. It's the British version of The Jersey Shore (never watched the Jersey Shore but for some reason I'm hooked on this show...maybe it's the accents??...lol!).
Kids ask for lunch, for dinner, for help with something, start to argue, whatever....unless it's a request for a hug from Mama...they take it up with Daddy :D
He will also clean the house and make all the meals...a perfect day.

That's it. It may not sound extravagant but to me it's the perfect gift.
I do nothing all day and it's awesome! I think most women would agree. We rarely, if ever, get a true "day off". Even vacations are spent taking care of things. I feel so blessed to be married to someone who understands that. He makes me feel special every day but especially on my birthday.

So, tomorrow is my birthday and I can't wait. I thought I might write up my list of New Year Resolutions but who am I fooling?? That won't happen and that's ok.
