The Crew

Sometimes I'm blond and sometimes I'm a brunette.

Hey! Welcome to my family blog! I'm Liz...a girl from a small town in the cheese lovin', beer drinkin' state of Wisconsin. I've always known my life would be full of adventure but had no idea that it would include living in so many crazy places. I think I'm at address #14?? Right now we live in Germany...something I've hoped for since the first time I filled out a "dream sheet" in the Air Force. I joined when I was 20yrs old and spent my 4 year enlistment in Alaska. I was given the opportunity to travel all over the Pacific...it was those experiences that gave me the travel bug.

Besides travel, I love hiking, barefoot running, photography and reading. My husband and I are total "foodies"...half of our travel budget is reserved for finding that perfect meal.

This is my husband, Gabe...aka, "Big Daddy".

He's a crazy swamp Yankee from Connecticut who loves the outdoors. He's a big kid who plays hard, with a big heart and loves his Mama. We met in Arctic Survival School in 2000. I used my strongest survival skill "being pathetic" and it worked...he helped me survive by building my snow shelter and making me laugh.

Everyone thought we were crazy...they were probably right. We dated long distance between North Dakota and Alaska and got married within the year. He separated from Active Duty after almost 13 years of service but now works Civil Service for the Air Force in Public Affairs. A risky move, some would say, but he LOVES what he does so it paid off. We still move as much as we did before, averaging less than 2 years in each place. One day we might settle down somewhere but not anytime soon.

This year we celebrated 12 years together. We're as happy as ever and he's still making me laugh :D

This is Dylan.  Dad's "Mini-Me".
aka, "Big D", "Dman", "Stringbean"

He's my little charmer. My confident kid with a healthy ego. He'll let you know what's cool, what's not and why he's got "swag". He's adventurous, up for anything, a thrill-seeker.

He loves soccer, baseball, skateboarding and the beach. He can eat his weight in seafood and pasta. At the rate he's going, I have no idea how we'll afford to feed him as a teenager. He has the best giggle, biggest smile, a glint his eye and will still snuggle with his mama.

This is Ryan. My "Mini-Me".
aka, "RyRy", "FlyGuy", "Pookers", "Nugget", "Mr. Self-Preservation"

He's my little guy. Yep, I cried when he turned 5. I don't want him to grow up but he is anyway and quickly. He's hilarious, can tell a funny story with a straight face and have everyone rolling!  He catches on quick to most anything he tries to do. Observant and analytical. He's a bit of a perfectionist...maybe the only one in the family.

He loves soccer, t-ball, swimming, riding his bike and keeping his room clean.

This is Mia. Our Border Terrier.
aka, "Mia Girl", "No licking", "Stop licking", "Gross, Mia" "Ok, stop it!"
...ok, so she has a bit of a habit.

Maybe not the smartest dog but she is THE sweetest, most loving dog on the planet. You never have to worry about her hurting anyone or anything, she'll never run off and is every little girl's dream puppy. She is the neighborhood dog. All the kids love her. Just wish she'd stop licking.

:D
